Madrid, Spain

    Your Majesty, Felipe VI, King of Spain;

    Your Excellency Mr. Pedro Sánchez, President of the Government of Spain;

    Your Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen, Heads of State and Government; and Heads of Delegation;

    Mr. Andrés Allamand, Iberoamerican Secretary General;
Receive Fraternal Greetings and best wishes for Peace, Well-being and Prosperity from Co-Presidents Comandante Daniel Ortega Saavedra and Compañera Rosario Murillo Zambrana, on behalf of the People and Government of Reconciliation and National Unity of the Republic of Nicaragua.

We convey the most sincere condolences and solidarity for the tragic railway accident that occurred in Spain in recent days.

We thank the Kingdom of Spain, Pro Tempore Secretariat, for the warm welcome and hospitality extended, as well as for the successful organization of this Thirtieth Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government.

We are at a time of great challenges for humanity, which demands from our Nations renewed will for rapprochement, respect and shared responsibility.
35 years ago, this Ibero-American space also emerged at a time of great changes in the world, focused on promoting dialogue, inclusion, cooperation and development between our Ibero-American Countries, convinced that our Nations can support each other on the common path to achieve Peace and improve the living conditions of our Peoples.

We reaffirm our conviction that, above and beyond any differences, we are united by fundamental aspirations such as the Right of our Peoples to live in Peace, with Dignity, Security, Social Justice and opportunities to build a Better Future.

We reiterate our firm commitment to the Purposes and Principles of the United Nations Charter, which includes Respect for Sovereignty and Independence, the Inalienable Right of Peoples to Self-Determination and to decide their own paths to development, Sovereign Equality among States and Non-interference in their Internal Affairs.

These Principles invite us to continue promoting Dialogue and Solidarity inspired Cooperation, as indispensable bases to strengthen Trust, Peaceful Coexistence and Solidarity among our Peoples.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Peace is a Fundamental Right and an indispensable condition for Human Development and the Well-being of our Peoples. Without Peace, we cannot guarantee conditions for our Families to live in Security and Development.

In that context, we reaffirm our commitment to the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, convinced that Dialogue, Respect

and Mutual Understanding must prevail over differences.

That is why we continue to demand the elimination of all unilateral coercive measures  threatening the Development of Peoples. We reaffirm the historic position of our country, as well as the vast majority of countries in the United Nations, in favor of the immediate, total and unconditional lifting of the Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade against Cuba.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Nicaragua recognizes International Cooperation as an instrument of Solidarity which serves to improve our national efforts and move towards a more just, equitable and inclusive Development.
It must be based on Mutual Respect, comprehension and the right of each People to decide on its own political and development models, to define its own priorities and aspirations, according to its own realities, without external impositions.

Ibero-American Cooperation should continue to be strengthened as a space for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and capacities, promoting concrete initiatives that contribute to improving the qality of life of our Peoples.

Our Ibero-American Community is called to deepen Dialogue, build Bridges of Understanding and eliminate barriers limiting our possibilities for Exchange and Cooperation.

We reiterate our willingness to continue working for an inclusive and respectful Ibero-American Community,

where Solidarity and the Sovereign Equality of all its Member States prevail.

We express our willingness to continue building relations of Respect, Friendship and Cooperation, convinced that Peace is the Way, Dialogue is our Strength and the Well-being of our Peoples should always be our Shared Purpose.

We would like to congratulate our Central American Sister, the Republic of Honduras, for assuming the Pro Tempore Secretariat of the Ibero-American Conference.

President Asfura, Minister Aguero, count on the Republic of Nicaragua during the exercise of your Pro Tempore Secretariat, which we predict from now on will be a complete success.
Let us work for an Ibero-America of Peace, Well-being, Development, Solidarity and Prosperity for all.

Thank you Very Much.
